Lulu and Lauren Go to Paris
Well, not really. But each of my granddaughters were with me in spirit during those two weeks in Paris. Just days before I flew, I emailed Caroline to ask if Lulu would mind if I took her glittery pink ballet flats to Paris. "I'll take Lulu's shoes to Paris," I wrote, "and I'll photograph them at Versailles, Giverny, the Tuileries, wherever Aggie and I go. I'll make Lulu a book about Paris."
Lulu Bell agreed. Within 24 hours, I got a Fed Ex envelope with Lulu's glittery pink ballet flats.
I also tucked two tiny quinceanera dolls in my bag. Good thing, too. When I began to photograph Lulu Bell's shoes 'on site', I knew that these tiny dolls must be photographed too. The doll's pictures would fold into a second Paris book for Lauren.
So, both my granddaughters will have their own one-of-a-kind story about travels to Paris. Wouldn't it be fine if someday, I could take each of them individually to Paris? A very good idea.
