Mom was such a great cook, a wonderful baker. Weird to see her kitchen dissembled so quickly. She'd be sick about it, except for the fact that she'd like her children and grandchildren to have the tools she used for decades.
Thanks, Mom. This afternoon, everyone was remembering those remarkable meals, the Monday lunches, the Christmas and Thanksgiving feasts, the Saturday morning homemade donuts, the late-night batch of pink fudge, the comfort food called mac and cheese, Bama's beans and thousands of freshly baked warm cookies.
May we carry on with your cookie sheets, iron skillets and measuring cups.
