We are losing the big oaks and pines and magnolias that give our city its green canopy. Summer brought no rain at all. So many trees in Memorial Park are brown. They cannot be saved. Estimates given now say that Houston can lose nearly 80% of its tree canopy. A horrific loss. Add in the danger of fire in the center of the city. Nothing is good about this.
The skies continue to be blue and filled with puffy clouds that never, ever, turn threatening or dark.
